Position Summary
We seek a dynamic and customer-focused Restaurant Server to join our team. You will create amazing dining experiences through great service for all guests. This role needs strong people skills, deep menu knowledge, and the ability to work well in busy times while keeping high service standards.
As a Restaurant Server, you are the main face of our restaurant. You will make sure each guest gets memorable service that brings them back and gets them to tell others about us.
Core Responsibilities
Guest Experience Excellence
Welcome guests with warmth and skill, making a great first impression
Present menus with energy and explain daily specials, seasonal items, and chef picks
Show deep knowledge of all menu items, including ingredients, how they are made, allergen info, and dietary needs
Give personal suggestions based on what guests like, dietary needs, and special occasions
Think ahead about what guests need and go beyond what they expect through careful service
Handle guest concerns with care and skill, bringing in management when needed
Follow up with guests after service to ensure full satisfaction
Build relationships with regular customers to enhance their dining experience
Order Management & Service Delivery
Take all orders correctly using the Point of Sale (POS) system, making sure special requests are clearly noted
Work smoothly with kitchen and bar staff to share dietary needs, allergies, and special prep requests
Serve all courses at the right temperatures, following proper service rules and timing
Check tables regularly to make sure guests are happy and handle any quick needs
Present food and drinks with attention to how they look and proper serving methods
Coordinate multiple tables efficiently during peak service periods
Ensure proper food safety and handling procedures throughout service
Revenue Enhancement & Sales Support
Promote appetizers, premium drinks, desserts, and special items through smart suggestions
Help achieve restaurant sales goals while keeping real guest relationships
Support seasonal promotions and special events as directed by management
Show expertise in wine and drink pairings to make the dining experience better
Introduce guests to new menu items and seasonal specialties
Suggest appropriate portion sizes and meal combinations to enhance satisfaction
Operational Excellence
Keep perfect cleanliness and organization of assigned sections, including tables, chairs, and service stations
Execute quick table turnover steps while keeping setup standards
Help maintain overall front-of-house cleanliness, including condiment stations, drink areas, and guest facilities
Support inventory management by reporting low stock levels and equipment problems
Maintain proper uniform and grooming standards at all times
Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned
Team Collaboration
Work well with hosts, bussers, kitchen staff, and fellow servers to ensure smooth service flow
Communicate well with management about guest feedback, operational challenges, and improvement opportunities
Help team members during busy service periods and maintain a supportive work environment
Take part in pre-service meetings and ongoing training programs
Mentor new team members and share best practices
Contribute to positive workplace culture and team morale
Financial Responsibility
Process all payment transactions correctly, including cash, credit cards, gift certificates, and promotional offers
Keep strict adherence to cash handling procedures and company financial policies
Present guest checks clearly and process payments quickly
Ensure accuracy in all financial transactions and report differences immediately
Maintain detailed records of daily sales and tip reporting
Handle cash registers and payment processing systems responsibly
Digital & Technology Skills
Master restaurant POS systems and order management technology
Use mobile ordering platforms and delivery integration systems
Maintain accurate digital records of guest preferences and special requests
Navigate reservation management systems effectively
Understand social media's impact on restaurant reputation and guest experience
Compliance & Safety Standards
Strictly follow all food safety rules, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
Follow local and state rules about responsible alcohol service
Stick to company policies, including uniform standards, being on time, and professional conduct
Find and report potential safety hazards, maintenance needs, or security concerns
Keep current knowledge of health department rules and company safety procedures
Complete required certifications and training programs within specified timeframes
Required Qualifications
Essential Skills & Experience
At least 1-2 years of customer service experience in hospitality, retail, or restaurant environment
Great verbal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse customers professionally
Proven ability to multitask well while keeping attention to detail in high-pressure situations
Strong people skills with a real desire to help others
Basic math skills for accurate order taking and payment processing
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to work in a team environment and take direction well
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think quickly
Preferred Qualifications
Previous restaurant server experience with knowledge of fine dining service standards
Experience with restaurant POS systems and order management technology
Food safety certification or willingness to get certification
Knowledge of wine service, beer styles, and classic cocktails
Second language skills (based on local demographics)
Previous cash handling experience in a business setting
ServSafe or similar food safety certification
Experience with wine and beverage pairings

Work Schedule & Expectations
Typical Schedules
Full-time: 30-40 hours per week

Peak Service Times
Lunch service: 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM
Dinner service: 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM
